Rise n’ Shine serves children from birth to 18 living in Western Washington. There is no charge to families for services for their children and teens. To be eligible to have a mentor, attend camp or participate in magic circle a child must be:

Infected = An infected child is HIV positive or has been diagnosed with AIDS.
Affected = An affected child meets at least one of the criteria listed below.

  • Has an immediate family member (parents or siblings) who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS
  • Has lost an immediate family member (parents or siblings) to death as a direct result of HIV/AIDS
  • Resides in the same household as an extended family member (aunts, uncles, grandparents) who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS

Additional Criteria

  • Children actively participating in Summer Camp, the Mentor Program, and Support Groups must know the HIV/AIDS status of their family member.

To Participate in Services

  • The Parent/Guardian contacts Rise n’ Shine for initial intake information.
  • The Rise n’ Shine Staff schedules a meeting in the home to meet the parent/guardian and children.
